A series and varying constellation of framed drawings on carbon paper. These works use the 8.5" x 11" standardized accounting/bureaucratic format and revolve around three central motifs; unfinished architecture, Magazine advertisement layouts and 20th century linguistic diagrams. Moving from linguistics into art, Pensato's early works dealt with the phenomenology of objects and pattern recognition. Often taken taking the form of games, these works used complex formal repetitions and meta-architectural syntax. This stemmed from an interrogation of formalist abstraction and colour language theory. In these current works, the repetition of carbon paper is used to unite a diverse but interwoven collection of theoretical concerns. Drawing together these references, Pensato attempts to unite and render the parallel histories underlying our present conception of modernity. Exhibited at Galerie Jan Winkelmann (Berlin), NADA Art Fair MIAMI, Galerie Werner Whitman (Montreal) More info at http://www.jnwnklmnn.de/JWB/07_AP_press.html; http://www.wernerwhitman.com and http://www.wooloo.org/alexpensato
